Living in Southern California, Christmas can be 90 degrees outside one year and SNOW unexpectedly on Thanksgiving! But lately we have been clear and in the 70's. But you want to make God LAUGH... make PLANS.
We scheduled our annual Christmas Card Swap for yesterday, November 15, 2025... did I mention we hold it in the main part of our metal Barn. My Journey Studio is on the right wing of the building, but it is insulated and dry walled. The rest of the building is a barn. A metal barn. Where cars get worked on, welding happens, grease, dirt.. lol. But for THIS day, it was cleaned and decorated and ready for a Christmas Card Swap!
Friday we set everything up with the main door open to the lovely So Cal weather. We had the 'Christmas Luncheon Table' decorated and ready. The next morning, as the guests arrived, we set up the 'shoebox' swapsat each station. Covers on the UGLY chairs. Crafting placemats in place. This day it was a bit rainy, guests came in donning their 'not used since last year' umbrellas. Each of us grabbed a hot cinnamon roll and a cup of hot tea or coffee as we set up our stations. When SUDDENLY Gabby looks up to the rafters ABOVE the crafting tables and cannot even speak! She just POINTS with her fingers pointing UP and her mouth wide OPEN! Instantly buckets of rain come POURING down on our tables!
You have NEVER seen SO many crafters RUSH to push the tables out of the way, grab their SHOEBOX swaps and get new placemats down in SECONDS! Okay, I'm exaggerating but it was FAST. So we didn't eat at our nicely decorated Christmas Luncheon Table, with treats made by some of the guests... but we listened to the California rain beating down, and crafted and ate for almost FIVE hours!
I tried several times to line the photos below up, but even though I had it into 3 x 3 lines, when I go to publish it messes up... but these are my amazing crafters with their amazing Christmas cards! Such a WONDERFUL group of ladies!
