CRAFTING Answered Prayers! Because God CAN!!

What is more refreshing, physically as well as SPIRITUALLY, than a Women's Retreat!  I spent this past weekend refreshing in the Spirit at Veronica Joy Ministries annual Women's Retreat!  Nestled in the hills of Calabasas, right down the road from Malibu Beach in Southern California!

I've attended Veronica's retreats for many years now, and each one has been such a blessing!  I wanted to give back a blessing, so I offered to do a CRAFT during the weekend.  The theme of the retreat was Romans 8:37 - 'We are MORE than Conquerors through Christ who loved us'.  So what better craft than a 'God CAN'??

You ask 'WHAT is a God CAN??  Well... it is an empty vegetable can, opened using the type of can opener that 'unseals' the can.  There are then no sharp edges and you can then put the lid BACK on!  Add some white paint, inside and out and you are ready to go!

Now the fun part... the decorating.  The personal touches that make each can a masterpiece of it's own.  I start by finding cute napkins.  Then I cut them in half making sure the design is horizontal.  Then tear apart the layers... most are two ply, but some are three.  Simply paint on some Modge Podge Matte with a foam brush and wrap your 'one-ply' napkin around the can, lining it up with the bottom rim.  Cut off any excess once you get back to your starting point.  Then cut off most of the excess on the top.  You can then push the excess down into the inside of the can and use Modge Podge to seal it.  Then brush a quick coat over the napkin again, gently smoothing out wrinkles.  Set it aside to dry and then I used die cuts for the top, applying the with hot glue.  A pretty rock on the top creates a handle to open your lid to drop 'prayers' into.

Next wrap some twine around your can and tie a knot... add your own bouquet of flowers with a glue gun... I added a 'God CAN' flag also.   I used a Cordless Glue Gun at my craft table.  They stay charged for up to 45 minutes so it can be passed around the table easily!

Your God CAN is complete.  Fill it with your prayers and open in a year!  See that God CAN!  But if a prayer remains unanswered... God has not forgot you.  God's timing is not ours... but HIS is perfect!  I once had a desperate prayer that lasted for over six years... but I KNEW what a MIGHTY God I serve and I refused to lose hope.  Today that prayer has been answered MORE than I could have ever imagined.  So remember... We are conquerors through Christ who loves us... never lose hope!  God CAN!!
